I met my boyfriend 3 months ago and he says that I have to leave my job

A Poster Asks:

"I met my boyfriend 3 months ago and he says that I have to leave my job because he does not want me to work as a model in the H&M company. I have to do what he wants? Because now I do not want to lose my job, he has already left and he does not write to me anymore."

My Take: Oh, honey. If a man you’ve known for 90 days thinks he gets to rewrite your life plan, the only thing you should be modeling is a fierce strut in the opposite direction. Your job at H&M sounds like a fabulous opportunity—and unless your boyfriend is paying all your bills and personally stitching you a couture wardrobe, he has zero say in your career.

He left and isn’t writing? That’s not a loss; that’s the universe taking out the trash. You don’t need someone who makes ultimatums that only benefit their fragile ego. Keep your job, and maybe model some self-respect—it’s the season's hottest accessory.
